Coping With Grief
We all know someone who has experienced loss. Grief is organic in that it is a pure and raw emotion we get to feel when there is a loss. There is no wrong or right way to grieve and no time limit. There are 5 stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Author David Kessler suggests a 6th stage: Finding Meaning. One can flow in and out of stages and sometimes get stuck in one. If you find yourself stuck that is a great time to talk with a professional such as a Licensed Professional Counselor like myself or a LCSW, Primary Care Physician, Psychologist and/or Psychiatrist and a good friend. Talking about your loss can be very therapeutic. Your loved one may no longer be with you physically but you carry them with you forever in your heart and memories. They never leave us. Please feel free to contact me if you need someone to talk to. Enjoy my segment and I welcome your constructive feedback.
